Hardwood Install
Learn what to expect before, during and after your professional hardwood flooring installation from the experts at Thornton Flooring.
Thank you for giving Thornton Flooring an opportunity to bid flooring for your home. In order to ensure a quality experience, please remember the following:
- Loose items on walls should be removed prior to install
- Touchup painting may be needed after install, especially on base boards
- The temperature in your home needs to be 65-75ºF for 36 hours before, during, and maintained after installation
- If you’re not going to be home at the time of install, a way in must be addressed beforehand
- Furniture must be out of the room before installers arrive
- Changing flooring can affect floor heights at thresholds, trim heights, and door clearances–we do not cut doors off
- If you have in-floor heat, be sure to let us know beforehand
- Make sure to talk with your salesperson on which direction your floor will run if you have a preference
- Replacing flooring creates dust, so please cover any items left in or near the work area and expect dusting to be necessary after install
- Special order items can not be returned
If installing hard surface flooring, we need a warm, dry area to cut the product–please inform your sales person of where you prefer we cut product - Thornton Flooring requires 50% down at the time of order and balance is due prior to install date
- We do offer financing, please ask your sales rep for information or see our financing page here (include link to financing page)
An adult member of your household (age 18 or older) should greet your installer and show them to the work area. Be sure to get a walkthrough of the job from the lead installer to give you a clear idea of what the work involved and ask them any questions you have about the job.
To ensure everyone’s safety and to help the job go smoothly, keep children and pets away from the work area for the duration of the job.
Stay off your new floors for the required amount of time after the job is done. The stain and varnish that has been used on the surface will need time to cure properly. The lead installer will be able to advise you on how long this will take.
If the smell of varnish or stain bothers you, open windows for ventilation or stay out of the house until the air has had time to clear.
